AC Shadows Introduces Bizarre Attack on Titan Event for Thanksgiving

In a bizarre collaboration that challenges usual predictions, Ubisoft has announced an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Mission Revealed

According to the formal announcement, "An unusual confrontation pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where hints of forbidden practices and monstrous changes resonate through the shadows." The plot introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a secret sect.

The questline centers on "peculiar trials and a terrifying adversary" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Familiar Locations and Transformations

The trailer highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The preview ends with a powerful moment showing a character, probably the captive, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Additional Material

Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an special katana together with multiple items concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:

Newest Free Story Update

This release also adds the game's third free story episode, titled "The Enigma." This playful mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe introduces a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This signifies hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime properties. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
